Meet J Rivas Jr. – Born Into the Biz, Thriving on The Bounce!
When J Rivas Jr. says, “Radio is just part of the family business,” he means it—literally! Jay’s been cruising radio station hallways since he was five years old, tagging along with his legendary dad, the Manic Hispanic. You could say he grew up with a mic in one hand and headphones in the other!
But J didn’t just hang around for the snacks—he made it official in 2005, kicking off his radio career as a promotion’s coordinator at Sierra H. Broadcasting. Fast-forward to 2012, and boom—J snagged his first on-air gig, rocking the weekend shift on KNRJ-FM. These days, you can catch J lighting up the airwaves on 101.1 The Bounce, where he brings the energy weeknights from 7 PM to midnight. But that’s not all—J also keeps things running smoothly behind the scenes as the station’s programming assistant. Talk about a double threat!
What keeps J smiling? It’s all about the vibes. He loves the close-knit, family-style crew at The Bounce and the fact that it’s a locally owned and operated station. (Support local, baby!)
When he’s not on-air…
J’s a total family guy who’s all about sports (especially basketball), movies, and gaming. But don’t be fooled—he’s also into the great outdoors. Whether it’s hiking or camping, J’s always down for a little fresh air. Jay’s not just a radio rockstar—he’s big on giving back. He’s actively involved with St. Agnes School and Parish, always ready to jump in for a good cause. From tuition fundraisers to community support, J’s got a huge heart for helping kids and families in need.
