The Academy Awards will soon have a new home. Organizers confirmed a long-term agreement that shifts the ceremony from Hollywood to L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles, with the transition set for 2029. The move marks a major change for one of the entertainment industry’s most established events.
The announcement comes as part of a broader deal with AEG, the company behind the L.A. Live complex. The Oscars will take place at the Peacock Theater, a venue known for hosting large-scale live productions and televised events. The updated location is expected to accommodate evolving production needs and audience expectations.
Before the move, the ceremony will remain at the Dolby Theatre through 2028. That year’s show will carry added significance as it marks the 100th edition of the Oscars, closing out nearly three decades at its current location.
The shift reflects a broader trend of entertainment events adapting to new spaces and infrastructure, while maintaining the traditions that define them.
